Ok, now that you’ve booked your boudoir shoot, what do I have to do to prepare for my boudoir session? Every woman asks that, and it can be kind of nerve racking. There are tons of nerves and emotions leading up to a boudoir shoot, and that’s ok! I’m here to help! I wanted to write down some guidelines and suggestions to ease and organize your minds and prepare you for this awesome experience!

I decided that I can help change the way women view and feel about themselves. That my studio can be a place of body positivity and love. That everyone, no matter their age, race, gender, size or shape can feel beautiful, confident and seen. It’s an honour to be able to help women have a different experience in front of the camera than I had in my early teens. I feel truly grateful to have a business that makes a positive impact in so many lives.

When we get nervous we make excuses. We hear this all the time and these statements are so disempowering, which is not the vibe around here! If these are your thoughts, then it is the perfect time for a boudoir photoshoot. The truth is, we’ll always be busy, the timing may not ever feel right, it may feel outside your comfort zone to invest in yourself, but when you push through these obstacles, the other side is so beautiful! Just in time for Halloween! We brought all our creative energy into this photoshoot. From the moment I started envisioning this set I just couldn’t wait to bring it to life. This project was purposely shot and designed for The Portrait Masters Competition. Their special category this round was “Into The Wild”.

This week the Portrait Masters announced their awards and I was honoured to have received 21 awards this round! The coolest part (to me) is that every single award that was given was of client work, except my self portraits. Why is that so cool? It’s because I took these images without the thought of submitting them to competition. This is my standard of work and it’s incredibly fulfilling to be acknowledged by some of the best photographers in the world that my work is worthy of high professional standard.

Earlier this year I had the privilege of photographing Michelle Morgan Canadian actress, producer, director and writer best known for her role as Lou Fleming on the CBC series Heartland. When I met Michelle for her consultation we talked about family, what they liked doing, what her children were like and how they wanted to be photographed. I learned that her daughter loved pretzels, they loved flying out to Tofino and spending time on the beach and that they loved the outdoors.
